1.4% of the United Kingdom currently suffer from dementia. With an aging population this figure is projected to rise for the foreseeable future. As someone working in the care industry it’s more important than ever to enhance your skills in this expanding area of adult care. Our Level 3 Certificate in Understanding the Principles of Dementia Care will build upon your existing knowledge of dementia, giving you the skills necessary to provide extensive support to those currently suffering with the degenerative condition.
Course Contents
During the course of study of learners will complete the following, high-value units:
- Understanding Dementia
- Understand How Person-Centred Approaches are Used to Underpin the Care and Support of Individuals with Dementia
- Principles of Communication and Interaction in Dementia Care and Support
- Supporting Positive Interaction, Occupation and Activity in Dementia Care
- Principles of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in Dementia Care and Support
- Understand How to Support Individuals with Dementia to Exercise Choice and Rights
- Principles of the Administration of Medication and Well-Being of Individuals with Dementia
Duration
This course lasts for a total of 14 weeks.
Cost
This qualification is fully-funded, meaning there is no cost to the learner or employer (subject to eligibility).
Delivery
This qualification is delivered remotely. Once enrolled learners will be required to complete a series of interactive workbooks.
Throughout the qualification learners will receive additional support and guidance during remote visits with their tutor. We find this personalised regular contact ensures a good working relationship with between the learner and tutor, helping to maintain our excellent attainment levels.
Progression
This course is the perfect first step towards completing a relevant Health & Social Care apprenticeship.
Eligibility
To be eligible for this fully-funded qualification you must satisfy the following funding requirements:
- Earn no more than £33,210 per year
- Live within the Tees Valley/Darlington Area
- UK Resident, or have proof that you have lived in the UK for at least 3 years
- 24+ years old
- Not currently studying on any other funded course/programme
