assess training smallVision Training delivers the new TAQA Level3 Assessment Qualification (this qualification replaced A1/A2 assessor awards).   This is for people working as or looking to work as Assessors , and is designed to support the assessment and quality assurance of all new QCF qualifications. These include Apprenticeships, NVQ’s, Functional Skills (Maths/English/ICT), Certificates, Diplomas and Awards.

This qualification provides a pathway for you to understand the roles and responsibilities of assessors and if properly evidenced will qualify you as an assessor. You could be assessing competence or non-competence based learning, knowledge or skills and will be guided to select the units that meet the requirements of what you are assessing.

About the qualification

This is a Level 3 qualification and on completion you should:

  • Understand the principles and practices of assessment (3 credits)
  • Be able to assess occupational competence in the work environment (6 credits)
  • Be able to assess vocational skills, knowledge and understanding (6 credits)

There are no tests for this qualification, VTNE will deliver training on a one-to-one basis in your workplace, and you will produce a portfolio of evidence; this evidence can be a mixture of written answers to questions, expert witness testimonies, reflections and observations of your working practices.

Entry Requirements

  • You must hold a suitable qualification in the occupational area in which you plan to assess learners.
  • An interview is required before you can enrol on this course to ensure you have access to appropriate students to complete this qualification

How much does it cost?

We charge £700 for a maximum of 6 months assessment.

For learners paying for their own course we can offer payment terms of £120 per month for 6 months (this includes a small admin fee of £20)

How long will it take?

This will largely depend on you (how quickly your answer the knowledge questions) and the QCF candidates you are assessing, this is because you will be using the candidates evidence for their QCF units, that you are assessing, as evidence in your portfolio, however on average the qualification is gained within 5-6 months.  If you take longer than 6 months you may be charged for your assessors time on an hourly rate.
